Can I change my S6 Edge to look for WiFi before network?

AC Question

I got my edge a little over a month ago and have been flying through data. It was unusual for me to use 75% of my data in a month. Now, I've used 80% in less than 2 weeks. It appears the phone looks for a network (thereby using up data) before hooking up to WiFi. Since I use WiFi at work and at home, I'd rather have it search for WiFi before network. I've adjusted the settings to only download updates, etc when there is WiFi available. Right now the network is OFF. Because I'm using the WiFi at home and work, I haven't noticed any difference in the performance of the phone. Of note, when I tried to talk to a carrier representative (in person) about this, they suggested turning off the network and it took two of them to figure out how to do that.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Wi-fi, tap Menu>Advanced. Is there a Smart Network Switch option? Whatever it's set to, try the opposite.
