Why isn't my Samsung Galaxy S III screen working?

Samsung Galaxy S III screen not working

My phone's screen suddenly decided to stop and go black. The phone works completely (I've tried turning off and on) as when I swipe and click on one of the apps and turn on the sound it works. So basically my phone works but the screen is black how can I solve this?
I'm not sure if this is important but before everything went black my phone flashed pink and when I turn my phone on the Samsung S III logo is slightly visible on one side but green.
