Why does my tablet always tell me my WiFi isn't connected?

I am connected to my home WiFi. My laptop, phone, and other devices connect to it just fine and run correctly. I have had my tablet for years and just recently started using it again (after a year of it being turned off). Everything is up to date, but my system just seems so slow and when it starts acting like that it says its due to my network coverage.

Is there any reason my tablet isn't picking up the signal like the rest of my devices that are in the same room?

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet is it? Is it actually connecting to the wi-fi network, and is it able to access the web?

Is the tablet's system fully up to date? Go to Settings>About Tablet>System Updates, and see if there are any available.
