why is my galaxy s2 (sgh-t989) crasheing every time I download stuff?

I have a t-mobile galaxy s2 (sgh - t989), i turned it on and it started saying "damaged sd card". I formatted it, through android and windows and it kept saying the saying the same. Then i realised that i couldn't download anything at all, neither from the google play store or an apk. It would just crash. All my apps still work though, also when i press applications in settings my phone just crashes. I tried factory resetting the phone and still the same problem

My phone is running android 4.0.4 stock rom and it is rooted and got twrp recovery.

Welcome to Android Central! What happens if you use a different SD card? That card is probably defective or failing.
