Google voice to text feature stays on screen and cannot be closed

So for example I reply to a text by hitting the little microphone and speaking out my message. I hit send, no problem. Now, I can hit the little "x" and it will go back to keyboard interface. However, if I forget to close out of the voice feature, and instead simply let the phone go to sleep or manually hit the button to make it go to sleep, that voice interface gets "stuck" and stays there. The little "x" no longer works. It can't be shutdown except by rebooting the phone

Google is aware of this problem and should be solved by the end of the week is what I was told. They had a error in the update..
