LG phone just updated to lollipop - play store will not update - gets stuck at 36% complete

Message repeats that playstore will not work unless updated but update freezes

After you updated to lollipop did you factory reset or did you install over KitKat? I typically do a fresh install by restoring up front or at least afterwards to insure everything is 100% updated and no issues. Try that and see if it works.
