Screen staying black

when I finish a call on my note edge, and take it from my ear the screen stays black, I have to hit the home button to illuminate the screen to press end call button. Is this normal?

Do you have a case or screen protector covering the front of the phone? That could be causing it. Or the proximity detector could be defective.

Screen protector yes, but phone does not show other signs of problems of having protector.
