Installed Lollipop & now phone won't unlock

[AC Question]

I just installed Lollipop a few hours ago & just when it seemed to finally be working again my phone stopped allowing me to unlock via swipe - even though I don't have a password set up. Is there anything I can do to get this phone working again without resorting to a factory reset & losing my data?

It's a Moto G, and I've upgraded my carrier's software as well (Republic Wireless)

I've tried using the Android Device Manager, but I get a message that the device is unavailable.

So if you can't unlock via swipe, how does it prompt you to unlock your device?

It doesn't :-(

I finally got the power button to respond after several hours, and rebooting it seems to have temporarily done the trick, but I'd love to find a solution that won't leave me at my devices mercy again.
