AC Question

I am trying to find a fix for a little kid, his family forces him to share his tablet and one of his brothers and sisters downloaded something malicious, I don't know where or how, but now there are forced ads on the home screen, apps downloading without permission, untrusted sources trying to root without permission (something called com.nb.superuser). I have tried factory resetting the tablet 2 times now with no results. What do I do now?

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet? If malware has installed itself to the system root, it can be very difficult to get rid of, unless you can reinstall the firmware. This is relatively easy for Samsung devices, but not so much for others.

Try another factory reset, but this time, go to Settings>Backup & Reset first, and uncheck Automatically Restore. Then do the factory reset, and after the Setup Wizard is done, go immediately to the Play Store and stop any app from automatically installing. Now see if the problem persists.
