So I'm looking to switch back to an Android phone, probably the MXPE and am wondering how exactly android devices communicate with iPhones.

My wife and I currently both have iPhones and we send texts and pictures almost daily or multiple times a day.

My question is what changes can I expect to see when she sends me a picture message to my android phone?

iMessage doesn't work very well with Android.

The iPhone user would need to use regular SMS to send text messages to you. Or use an IM app like Whatsapp, Hangouts, Viber, Facebook Messenger etc to communicate with each other.

My wife and I both have the LG G Stylo on Metropcs and use Hangouts to message each other.

Make sure you double check your APN settings (for the carrier) as that is another issue.

Not sure.

I think iMessage has an option to send its texts as "SMS".

I know that when I receive iMessages from my relatives in California to my Android phone, they rarely come through. Sometimes I have to ask them to resend or just ignore it as something I will never get.
