AC Question

My Galaxy S6 was updated to Marshmallow a few days ago and ever since the battery cant last 8 hours. Doing absolutely nothing, no app usage, wi-fi location services, zero. the battery usage says the Android OS used 70%. Everything is off except sound, auto rotate and mobile data. I have cleared the system cache from the app manager and I have booted in safe mode and wiped the cache partition. Doesnt help.

Any other ideas besides factory reset?

Hi and thanks for visiting Android Central forums!

Unfortunately this is a very common thing after this major update. You can try entering the recovery mode, and doing a wipe of the cache partition. You will not lose any data.

If this does not work, I would suggest a full factory reset. As this seems to be the only thing that actually fixes the issues after the marshmallow update. With that said, sometimes the partition wipe solves the problem.

If you do the full factory reset, as I would recommend, as I do this with all my devices after each major update. Be sure to back up your personal data.

Hope this helps

Chris

Yes, absolutely! There are great apps like Samsung Smart Switch, and helium, that do a pretty good job of backing up your personal stuff.
