Why do I lose the connection between my Android phone and my Honda?

I finally figured out how to get my Android 5.1 phone to connect to Android Auto over a USB cable before starting to drive. I try to listen to live FM radio stations using apps and/or use Google driving directions, but I keep losing the connection. Do I need a better USB cable, or could it be something else? (2016 Honda Accord EX-L V6). Thanks!
