Why Next SMS used up 75 MG. data in less than one day?

I use my cell phone for Text and phone calls only. No internet surfing. In order to receive and reply group TEXTS- coming as MMS- I down loaded Next SMS- five months ago. No problem with data usage- except last week one day- I had not used my phone or received any text- 75 MB. data were missing and were used up by Next SMS in background. Why ? and How can I prevent it.

I just noticed that something similar happened has to me this month. Between November 3rd and November 15th, Next SMS used 1.2 GB of data. In that timespan I've sent and received about 25 standard texts and haven't sent or received any images. Something very not good is going on.
