When will I get Marshmallow or Nougat Android update?

I have a Straight Talk ZTE Max Duo II and I'm still stuck on Lollipop. When I check system updates it says "cannot connect to server." Any advice on how to get the newest update.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you get that phone directly from Straight Talk, and are you currently using it on that network? The reason I ask is that phones that are specific to a carrier usually have to be on that carrier's network in order to get an official system update over-the-air.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the phone wasn't scheduled to get a Marshmallow update. Budget phones often don't.

Contact ZTE. Most likely though they'll tell you there's no plans to push an update.
