Lost my galaxy tab a

I recently had my Samsung Galaxy tab A stolen. And had Google set up a new password and to erase it when it turns on.
Would they get to use it after it remotely gets factory reset?

Possibly, possibly not. It really depends on if the device supported factory reset protection.

Now, that may not prevent the thief from taking some extreme measures to make the device usable (ones I won't mention/discuss) but if they can do that it would most certainly mean your data has been wiped.
