Galaxy Note 4 Touch screen unresponsive

A

AC Question

Three times about every 6 months the touch screen on my Samsung Note 4 has just stopped working. I must use the s pen to activate the keys.
After an annoying month the touch screen works again. It has happened again and it is very inconvenient to have to the S Pen to answer a call.

Welcome to Android Central! It could be an issue with some app you installed, the phone's firmware, or the touchscreen itself. Normally I'd suggest trying Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away, but if it only happens every few weeks or so, this won't be very effective.

You could try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28932. If that doesn't help, you could also consider a factory reset, or reinstalling the firmware using Smart Switch: http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29914

Ultimately, though, it might be that the touchscreen is starting to fail. The S Pen works differently from the touchscreen, so it wouldn't be unusual for you to still be able to use the S Pen. I would make sure all of your important data is backed up or synced regularly, in case the screen fails completely at some point.
