How do I better manage my notifications on a Samsung J3

I would like to receive notifications for several of my apps but I want the sound to be muted.
However, I would like a sound played when I receive a text message.

I know how to apply sound or mute notifications ?

Welcome to Android Central! Many apps (if not most) have a notification option in their settings menu. Open the app, go to its settings, and look for Notification. You should be able to change the tone to Silent or None.
