My tablet will not open any of the Google apps or play store.

Anytime I try to open the play store or any of the Google apps on my tablet I get the message "Unfortunately, Google play services has stopped." It started happening all of a sudden, I've tried clearing the cache and resting the tablet but it did not work. I've also double checked to see if there were any software updates or app updates but everything says it's up to date.
The tablet is a Gpad 7.0 and I've had it for a little over two years.
