Note 8 fast charge when connected to generic charger ??

Hi everyone.

Today I was wondering why my Note 8 won't fast charge when plugged into a generic usb wall power adaptor.

I know that it is only supposed to fast charge when connected to an official Samsung charger but what is so different between an official Samsung charger and a generic one or a PC/Laptop's usb ports?

Is it something to do with the amp rating of the chargers output?

It's a combination of things, the Amp rating of the charger being one of them. The other is that the fast charging is based on Qualcomm's "Quick Charge" technology, if the generic charger doesn't support that, the phone can't negotiate the faster charge speed so you end up with the standard speed.
