Problems after adopting SD card as internal storage?

I tried to use a 32g card, brand LD, class 10.
On a Moto G5 running android 7.0 (I think?)

So.... Everything seems to break down after I tried that:

Stuck on shut down - It will not finish the shutting down. I have to press and hold the power to get it to restart.
Reboots to black screen - my sim card has a pin that has to be typed after booting. I do that, and after the phone freezes and goes into black screen. When it boots, that is. Sometimes it just hangs on the logo.

It boots normally if the card is removed - but after reinserting it, if I check the storage settings it hangs on "checking" and several apps are unusable.

Any idea what to do?

"LD" isn't one of the major card brands, so I wouldn't be surprised if the card itself is corrupt.
