Android Central Question
I purchased an S8+ on ebay that claimed to be model # SM-G955UZKAXAA, which is a U.S. model phone with the Qualcomm chipset, but when I ran the phone info app on it it's actually model SM-G955FZKLTPA, manufactured in Vietnam, for what appears to be the German market maybe(?), with the Exynos chipset.
My questions are as follows:
- aside from being a misrepresentation, is there any downside to this from the perspective of getting updates (Oreo, security, etc..)
- It appears I cannot register this phone on the Samsung site (it says it was purchased outside of the U.S.). How do I find the correct country, and once I do, can I register it? What does registering it do?
-Is there a big enough difference between the Exynos and Qualcomm chipsets that I should return this?
- I am planning on getting a gear VR, so VR performance matters as well.
- I'm not super into unlocking phones, so that's not a major issue for me.
- Will this hurt my resale value in a few years when I sell it, since I will be listing it with its proper model number?
