If you get the phone directly from Google, the updates come from Google. For the most part, carriers have no say as to when updates are pushed to the Pixel phones.

And if you can't wait for the updates (there's one available now - March 5, 2018 - but a lot of us haven't gotten it yet)(, there's always the Google site to download and install it from. (Today's was up there the first time I looked this morning.)

As for Straight Talk, first decide whether you get better coverage from AT&T. Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon. Then ask ST for a SIM for that carrier. (If it's Verizon, check with them first. They have their own version and may not accept the generic one.)

Also check into project Fi. At worst, it's the same price as Straight Talk. But if you use a little less data that month, it will be cheaper that month.

Hello, quite some time i know i know... ST states "service not available" when i go via the website, im sure the outsourced "agents" will state the same.
I get crumbs online stating it can work with the correct APN. MY question is, how would i do that? Is this like rooting a phone? I know nothing about these things really, and often think about a flippy phone as the just work.
I do barely anything else besides call, email, sms, photos and a little FB. What do you all think? Is this too much to take on, or would its be easy to do with some instruction?
Thanks
