Why can't I connect to LG server for software update?

I took my new LG Fiesta 2 to my local library and connected to its Wi-Fi. It runs Android 7.0. I went to settings-about phone-update center-software update-check for updates. It appeared to be working, but after about 20-30 came back with some message that it couldn't connect to the server. Help please!

That's a TracFone phone, right? There may not be any updates with TracFone.
