Why does it take my Alcatel phone so long to boot?

My wife and I have the exact same phone: Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3, yet my phone boots up in approximately two minutes, while hers can take up to 15 minutes to boot up. While it’s booting, the screen is black, with a white message box, within which is displayed “Android is starting” and beneath that “Optimizing app 1 of 1.”

There is a revolving circle that just keeps going around and around and around and around and . . .

I am convinced that there is some setting that is set incorrectly on her phone, but I can’t figure out which it is.

Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong, and why it takes FOREVER to boot up?

I've seen it mentioned a number of times that uninstalling Zedge gets rid of this problem. Does she have that installed?
