Message Tone set to different tone for contact, still plays default tone

[Android Central Question]

I set a ringtone and a message tone for one of my contacts. When I received a text message from this contact, it plays the default notification sound vs the one I set within the contact.

Anyone else experience this symptom. if so how'd you fix it.

I also am experiencing this same symptom with one of my contacts.
I've tried removing the one contact and then recreated it. Still no luck.

Anyone have a fix for this?
