Why is my sound not working on my Samsung Galaxy J3 2017?

[Android Central Question]

The sound on my Samsung Galaxy is working normally with the exception of phone calls and recording videos. During phone calls, I can hear the person on the other end but they are unable to hear me and when recording videos it doesn't pick up any actual audio but just plays back a muffled noise. The phone is less than 6 months old and it hasn't been damaged in any way.

Welcome to Android Central! Make sure the openings for the primary mic (at the bottom of the phone) and the secondary mic (at the top of the phone) aren't blocked by a case, or by debris (like lint or residue clogging the opening).
