Android Central Question

I was transferring a audio recorded file from my phones Internal memory to my SD card. I moved the file on my phones file browser. The audio was recorded on a downloaded app and i cant find it on the app either. Cant find it in any folder or anywhere searched on the phones file browser and computer file browser. I bought a recovery program and got nothing but files i already had including a another file saved on the app please help me.

Cna you find a folder with a name similar to LOST.dir? If you get some luck, the file might be saved there (with a random name) when the transfer was failed.

Moving a file does 2 things - it copies the file, then it deletes the original. In some implementations, it reads the whole file into memory, then deletes the original, then writes the copy. If it goes bad between those last 2 steps, you have a deleted file and, unless the phone is already rooted and you have a deleted file recovery app installed, there's not much chance of getting it back. Which is why it's always better to copy, then check the copy, then - if the copy is okay - delete the original. If the copying goes bad that way, the original is still there for you to copy again.

Thacy, LOST.DIR is there for 4 purposes:
  • Abruptly pulling out SD card from Android phone
  • Interruptions while downloading files on Android device
  • Sudden freezing of Android device operating system
  • Switching off the device while some read-write process is carrying on.

It's not a Windows Recycle bin and it doesn't hold your deleted files.
