Pictures don't show up in the Gallery - media rescan isn't working for Samsung Galaxy 9

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung Galazy S9 and being new to Android I accidentally created a .nomedia file in my main Documents (instead of the WhatsApp folder it was intended for). I have since deleted the .nomedia file but now none of my pictures show up in my Gallery. If I go to My Files or use a file explorer I can see that my pictures are on my phone (in DCIM - Camera or in my old iPhone transfer). I've tried using media Re.Scan and ScanMediaPlz but neither have worked to get the pictures back. Does anyone have recommendations for media scanners that work with Oreo?

Welcome to the forums. Have you already tried rebooting the phone?
