Why can I no longer log-in to Google services on my Huawei P8 lite 2017?

Hello,

I've had a Huawei P8 lite phone for around a year and it's suddenly signed me out of my Google account and won't allow me to sign in again. When I enter my email and password, it says it's 'checking' and then throws me out again. Very frustrating! Any ideas?

Welcome to Android Central! Did the phone come with Google Play Services and the Play Store preinstalled, or did you have to install them manually?
