No sound in calls unless in speaker mode

[Android Central Question]

I have a Nokia 3.1 and it's been working fine until the other day when a big Android software update was installed. Since then I've had no sound in phone calls unless I put it on speaker mode. Does anyone know how to fix this, or is it a bug that's come with the latest version of Android?
