Why don't you just change the wifi password?

And change the SSID to "FBI Surveillance Van" so nobody will want to connect to it anyway!

Welcome to Android Central! How do you know someone else is using your wi-fi network without permission? Is your wi-fi network set up with a good password to begin with?

The question here is if you have a password set up for your wi-fi network. If you don't, then anyone can use your network.

Also, who's your internet provider? If it's Comcast, then maybe it's showing you who's connecting to your router's public wi-fi hotspot (which shows up as "xfinitywifi"). You can disable it this way: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e?...token=4z-ii_cm

Also, because the device appears doesn't mean it is connected to your wifi as it can't without the correct credentials. THis is normal on a wifi network. A neighbour's device shows up on mine but they have no access

Even assuming that it's someone currently connected to your router, there's no way to find out who owns it. Only the manufacturer would have the serial number (that's what 8979f31 is), possibly the carrier, but neither one would look it up for you. (They can't - their databases aren't set up with serial number as a key - there would be no reason for that. And a non-indexed search through a few million devices, even on a supercomputer, could take a week or more, typing their computer in knots.)
