have to return to factory default, on S8. can i prepare to restore my phone to as close to present?

[Android Central Question]

Had cracked screen replaced. Tech also had to replace cracked phone back. When he did, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. He replaced it and now says need to do factory reset. I don't want to lose all my data, texts, pics, settings, etc.
