Screen going dim

Everytime my NC goes to sleep, even if only for a few seconds, the screen is real dim when I turn it back on no matter what the setting level is in the screen brightness settings page. I have to go back into settings page and just touch the slider bar and the screen immediately returns to the proper brightness setting. The setting does not change, just the brightness.

Any help is much appreciated.

figured it out. i had set my screen brightness mode to auto in Spare Parts. Setting it back to manual seemed to fix the problem
