Why does my Motorola show a question mark inside the battery during charging?

why my motorola shows question mark inside the battery during charging

The mobile shows question mark inside the battery, Recently I replaced the battery with new one but when I plugged in the usb cable it couldn't charge but shows question mark inside the battery and when I check the status of the battery it indicates as it is discharging

I m not a expert but look like u need a new battery.
