I dont have messanger but am geting notifacations about it on my facebook

I dont have the messager app installed on my phone. I keep getting notifications from Facebook that I have messages on messanger. How do I stop this. I keep thinking its comments on posts but most of the time its about messages on messanger! And I dont even have the app and dont want it

If there's a message sent to you, Facebook sends you a notification that there's a message waiting for you. The only way to eliminate those notifications is to uninstall Facebook.

Welcome to Android Central! If someone sends you a chat message via Facebook Messenger, you get this notification. Facebook requires you to install the FB Messenger app if you want to view these messages on an app. The only way around it is to go to the Facebook site on your phone's browser, and then tap Menu>Show Desktop Site (since the mobile site will also redirect you to the FB Messenger app page on the Play Store). This is one of the reasons I keep Facebook off my phone.
