what can i do to make my htc mytouch 4g access the internet ?

the phone connects and identifies my home wifi system, with excellent signal strength but will not access the internet regardless of settings tweaks, safemode trials and what-not,what gives,any help ?

Try disabling security on the router. If it works that way, you're probably using TKIP or TKIP+AES encryption and many Android phones have a problem with that. Use AES encryption on the router.

Also make sure you have enough slots to get an IP address. If the router is set for 5 slots, and you have 5 devices connected, the phone can identify the system, see the signal, but not get an IP address, because there are none left. (Change the router's DHCP settings to add at least one more slot.)
