Welcome to Android Central! Can you tell if it works when unlocked? If you're unable to unlock the screen since it won't register a touch, I'm guessing you can't tell if it works when unlocked. The digitizer may have failed, which would require you to bring the phone to a repair shop.

I have the exact same problem on my Lenovo A536. I've had it for almost a year now and this morning after locking the screen, the touch screen just stopped responding. I take out battery, turn it on and the touch screen works until I lock it and then bam - it stops responding again, I can do nothing. The volume and power keys work all the time, just the touch screen gives me trouble. This is very strange , because it works just fine until you lock the screen. Any idea? Thanks!
