The Outlook icon on my homepage doesn't display the unread email count in a badge as I would expect. New mail notifications work fine however. Please advise.

Unless the app itself and the launcher support Unread Badges, that just won't happen. Some launchers require a separate download to enable unread counters, but to the best of my knowledge the specific app needs to support the unread counter badge or it still won't have it.

UPDATE: From the looks of the Outlook forums, it seems their Android app doesn't support unread counters.

You might get it if you use the stock e-mail app or a 3rd party one that supports Outlook accounts.

Also, while not necessarily on the app icon itself, apps like this one can take the app icon and display unread counters as widgets on your homescreen (wouldn't be on the app drawer, though, and not sure if it'll support Outlook).

I just installed Outlook on my Note 4, running Android 6, and am not getting any notifications in the notification bar. There are options in the app for sound and vibration notifications, which I do not want. But there are no options for a simple new mail icon in the notification bar, much less an unread mail badge on the icon. Is this possible?

Is there an update to this? I have migrated over from a Lumia 950 on Windows 10 Mobile to a Pixel 2, but I am trying my best to stick with Microsoft services for continuity, but this might be a deal breaker.
