Back up a non-Market app?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to root my Evo 4G but one thing is holding me back. I'm am afraid of losing one specific app on my phone: ShapeWriter Keyboard. I've been using this almost since I got the phone and I don't like Swype (in comparison). Since I originally downloaded ShapeWriter though, the company was acquired and the app taken off the Android Market. If I have to factory reset, it'll be gone forever.

Does anyone know if there's a way to back it up? Thanks!

i back my apps to my sd card with astro. then no matter what you do, the app is always there ready to be reinstalled.

I use back up pro- backs up everything I believe
