What do you guys think? Should I even bothering paying to fix this thing when the parts and labor will cost $150 or just buy a new tablet?

New tablet, sell the old one for parts. Maybe you'd get 50 bucks out of it. So that + the 150.00 you were going to spend to fix it = 1 new 8GB Nexus 7. Add 50 bucks for the 16GB of course.

That is an incredible amount, who quoted that price?

Probably Asus. There are a couple other posts from the last month or so who received the same quote from Asus. One of the posts had the cost broken down in detail.

I broke the screen on my 16gb Nexus 7 a few weeks ago. After seeing the quotes up to and over $170.00 for repair I went out and bought a new Nexus 7. Another $272.55 after tax. I put the broken one on ebay and got $111.49 + $8.00 shipping for it. After ebay and paypal get their cut and another $.50 or so to USPS I'll clear under $100.00. It hurts bad but I didn't want to send it off for what would probably be weeks to get it back. I bought a Squaretrade warranty for the new one. It covers drops and spills. That'll come in handy with my clumsy hands.
