How do I get the YouTube app to play full screen landscape mode?

The YouTube app used to go fullscreen when you rotated it horizontally. That was great.

Then it got updated and there is now a fullscreen button on the bottom left of the player. When you tap it, the screen goes fullscreen portrait, but you can't rotate it to go fullscreen landscape. Is there any way to get the new updated YouTube app to play videos in fullscreen landscape on the (old) Nexus 7?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! In landscape, if it isn't fullscreen (and you still see the related videos, comments, etc.), then tap the video screen part, and then the fullscreen icon at the lower right.

That's weird. It goes full screen when I rotate my Note 2. Maybe it's different on a tablet. I'll take a look at that when I go home.

did you turn auto screen rotate off? Pull down on the upper right of the screen. if it says "rotation locked" click that and it should rotate automatically again

I'm actually a bit puzzled. I have a 2012 Nexus 7 with the latest YouTube version, and the fullscreen button is always at the lower right of the playback screen, not the lower left. No problems rotating between portrait and landscape fullscreen. What version are you having problems with? I have 5.0.21.

Yep, correct, I am an *****, had the rotate lock on. Didn't even know I could access it by swiping from the top right.

And, yeah, the full screen button is bottom right, not bottom left, sorry.

Thanks!
