Nexus 7 accidentally "forgot" WIFI network, now won't save or connect

So the owner accidentally clicked something - thinks it is "forget password" and the nexus tablet will no longer connect to my WIFI network.

We can however connect it up in safe mode, which is not ideal as it's slower.

We've tried forgetting the network and reconnecting - this works in safe mode but not "normal mode" (we can save it, but then it still forgets it).

Rather than resetting the entire wifi networks on the nexus, is there a way of cleaning this network out completely and resetting it from scratch?

We have tried switching the wifi router off and rebooting it by the way.

Fortunately I received a reply in the google forums. What I did was to see what apps were running in safe mode compared to normal mode. I then disabled the one app that was only functioning in normal mode that was different (mcafee as it turns out) and rebooted in normal mode and the device then accessed the wifi network normally.
