Lollipop 5.1.1 Already

1) Google is about to announce it. That doesn't mean that you'll have it on your phone next week, it doesn't even mean that the manufacturers will have it next week. Unless you have a Nexus 9, you probably won't see it until snow is in the forecast again.

2) It "aims to squash lingering bugs". 5.1 fixed the memory leak, but there are still a few problems left. 5.1.3 might be the last 5.1 release - with almost all bugs fixed. (Almost - no software that large ever has all bugs fixed. Windows 95 died with bugs remaining.)

The hosts of All About Android podcast said on their show a couple of weeks ago that they spoke to one of Google's engineers and he says 5.1 didn't fix the memory leak like people thought it did. He stated that the problem has finally been fixed internally but hadn't been pushed to users yet. Maybe that's what this 5.1.1 update is for.

Sigh... Looks like I'll stick with 4.4.4 a bit longer. Was going to make the jump when 5.1 came out, but now... It runs perfectly now, as is, so why invite trouble. Wish I could get the 5.0.2 invite out of my notification bar.

The factory image is already released. You can download it from there, or wait for the OTA, which should be out very soon.

I got the 5.1.1 OTA today by using the Clear Data & Force Stop of Google Framework Services approach. Took 3 tries to get it show download available.

5.1.1 OTA just finished applying. I was not having any major issues on 5.1 so cannot state any specific places I will be looking for improvements.

Waiting to see when it will arrive for my N7 2012 and if that will fix the performance issues. Overall the 2012 model was okay, but there are a few web sites that especially hammered it once switched to Lollipop.

Just got the OTA for 5.1 from 5.0.2, will this break root?

Has anyone installed the OTA on rooted 5.0.2?

Got the 5.1.1 update yesterday... Everything is running smoothly.

All I've got so far is 5.02 which I haven't installed. Do it have to install it to get notified of 5.1.1?
