Lollipop 5.1.1 Already

I'm extremely happy with this build and the overall performance of this tablet. These updates are really improving everything on this device. I never really had any problems before with the N7 but I give a thumbs up to Google

It's just too bad they discontinued it. It really is a great tablet.

Similar experience after the 5.11 update was applied to my N7 2013 (stock N7, no root, OTA). Can't really validate the battery life part, only been running with the update for 36 hours. Should know by the end of the weekend.

Might be a "placebo effect" but the screen seem sharper to me. Also, the update completed smoothly, no problems.

Still no improvement in battery life for me after 5.1.1 update. (stock N7, no root, OTA)

I'm still not sure if my mind isn't playing tricks on me but my battery life seems better now, more like it was on KitKat versus the 5.0 release of Lollly.

Mine is undoubtedly better, much better, with the 5.1.1 OS. Memory management is heaps better, too (ha, get it? 👏).

Nope lol
I really hadn't noticed any issues with the previous 5.1.1 tho, to be fair

I went ahead and unrooted, flashed the latest stock ROM and rooted again.

HELP!!! Bear with me here... I NEVER been on a website on my Nexus 7 that drains... ie. FaceCrap or a messenger app, etc. until a few weeks ago, for the first time, I logged into Hangouts to chat with someone and a site I am on where I went into their chat area. Never did that before. I knew that would drain the battery a bit. Fine.

After that, I noticed my battery draining. I decided to retstore the tablet to factory settings and upon reinstalling it tacked on 5.1.1 I went back into the site chat a few times and did not notice a huge drain. Then it started, and since then I did not go back to that site... my battery is draining when I am on WIFI at home and it is plugged in!!! When I am on Kindle and the WIFI is off, the battery remains stable if it is at 100%... and also stable when it is lower that 100% never increasing to get to full charge.

I cleared history, cache, running apps, apps in cached processes. I seriously only use my tablet for Kindle, news sites and Twitter. Bluetooth is always off as well as location. I do not leave the WIFI on when I am not in Chrome. I do not have an HD moving screen or even a clock or other running app on my front screen.

I bet I am leaving something out that someone will ask me about. :)

With all that mentioned, I was thinking of restoring it again. But still, WTF? There are so many people who use draining things on their tablet & I can see where they would have the problem I am having. I should also mention that it takes an over an hour to charge the battery from 80% to full, with WIFI shut off and not using it.

I have never abused the battery or let it ever run down. I believe the lowest I have ever seen it run down was once at 18%. I do not let it run down lower than 30%. I am more than willing to restore it again, I do not have anything stored on it where it would be a pain to do so.

I agree wholeheartedly! The Nexus 9 sounds less than stellar to me and I have no plans to buy it. I like the Nexus 2013 7" form because it's easy to carry and its great for reading, which is my primary purpose for using this tablet (although the display is so beautiful, I find myself streaming videos, too). I bought this tablet as soon as it was first released two years ago and, for the most part, it's been smooth sailing the entire time.

It'll be interesting to see how long they'll continue to support it, as far as OS upgrades, etc.

I sold my Nexus 2012 with lollipop 5.2 recently. I still have my Nexus 7 2013 32 gigabyte Wi-Fi only with KitKat 4.4.4 and I am very happy with it. They have the 5.0.2 System Update downloaded notice in my notification panel which I have been avoiding installation of for a few months now since I read so many negative comments about lollipop when it first came out. Now it seems that many N7 users are writing more positive comments about lollipop so I'm wondering if there are any/enough significant advantages with lollipop now to make it worth my clicking on the installation of lollipop? Are most of the bugs out of lollipop now? Or since my n7 2013 is running very good on KitKat should I just keep ignoring the lollipop installation notice?

I wonder when we are going to get the OTA security updates... The factory images were just posted a couple days ago (stagefright)

Thanks, I didn't realize there was anything new up there. I installed the latest just a few hours ago (LMY48I). We'll see 🍭
