so I'm reading all over the internet right now that Android Pie is officially out for Google pixel phones. Has anyone downloaded it yet? Would you recommend doing a wipe and then a clean install of the OS? I might try to install it later

Not yet here, though I'm debating the merits of installing yet due to having a work profile. It's a BYOD setup so I may just charge ahead once it's available since email on my device is not critical to my job.

Too bad the update's installing one kilobyte at a time. These slowcore installs just have to be on purpose! Just to make me look like a fool pawing at the display to keep it awake so's I can watch the animation crawl.

They download fast but install slow so people can continue to use their phone. I do wish there was an option to just tell it to go all out.

So being on Beta are we only getting the security patch for August? Do we get kicked off the beta program at some point if we don't opt out?

It's hard to say if it's just a security patch for those on Beta. Probably not much more except some minor fixes.
The Beta program ends automatically and you have to sign up for the next Beta once its available.

Anyone with a Samsung Gear S2 3g upgrade yet? The release candidate didn't work with it, so had to go back to 8.1.

The reddit Pixel staff said that we will get updated to production shortly.
