On Marshmallow I would get a number associated with the number of notifications on the icon/badge. Now I don't know if I have notifications until I open the app. Anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

Well my friend that's not happening at my Pixel XL, it's happens at my Samsung Galaxy S6. Pixel is a good phone but not so great at the notifications department regardless if is Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Gmail app or others paid email apps like Aqua Mail and K-@ Mail Pro- Email App.
Sorry Sir, if your suggestion is Nova Launcher and Tesla read I'm going to install right now. I bought Nova Prime years ago. Please read the entire thread. I gave a suggestion on how to mirror that Samsung feature on non-Samsung devices.

It is not a Samsung exclusive... LolThanks, I was wondering if that was Samsung exclusive
I know for a fact HTC has it...What other Android OEMs have notification badges then?
Nova may not be the only alternative launcher that has the ability to add them but it's certainly the most popular.
