Downloading MMS messages on Google Pixel

Does anyone else have to do this? Whenever someone sends me a photo I have to download it but I hate it because it rarely ever downloads. I've looked all around but I can't find anything about it. Is there a setting so pictures can come through without having to download and wait or am I stuck with this? Thanks.

What app are you using? I'm using Textra and have no issues. Pictures auto download. If you're using the stock Messages app I believe there's an option in the settings to auto download MMS messages. Make sure that's checked.

- tap the three dots in the top right corner
- Settings
- Advanced
- "Auto download MMS" slider to "on"

I have that set on my wife's phone, but she still gets the download button. My phone (pixel) works fine. Hers (pixel XL) has all the same settings, but she gets the download button. She recently switched to Facebook messenger, and now it's back on the basic messages app. Cleared cache on all apps involved.
