Best battery saver app for rooted htc

I noticed that lately my battery doesn't last as long after I rooted my phone and was wondering if anyone knew of a great battery saving app that works for rooted phones. One of my friends that worked for geek squad suggested Setcpu or Screebl but thought I would get some opinions here too. If anyone has any good suggestions it would be greatly appreciated!

Main thing I do is use something like Gemini App manager to stop auto starts of user apps that always run in the background.

Oh, that post also talks about Wifi using less power than 3g. It was written for the Optimus V, but it will generally apply to all phones seems to me.

Thanks I'll check it out. So far it seems to be okay but I was wondering how to stop the auto start of the apps. I appreciate you giving me the info!
