How to get my music player to show on the lock screen

Ok so first I have the honor 7.
I've been to notification settings and turned on 'display on lock screen' for the music player. I've even turned on all the other options so theres no excuse and STILL it doesn't show on lock screen.
SO ANNOYING!
Jeez man this should be basic stuff
