Unlocking an AT & T G4

I've brought this issue up before and received various responses but none involved an actual way to simply unlock an AT & T G4 without getting help from AT & T. Certainly there must be a way? I would like to keep my AT & T account and phone number alive while getting a different SIM card to use while in the UK and Europe) on business. Is there any way to do this? Such as a secret code...or do you think AT & T might make an exception and unlock the phone for me if tell them I'm not looking to leave them?

Is it a certainty that my G4 H810 will work outside America? Frequencies, etc.?

AT$T should have no problems unlocking your phone so you can travel. But its not absolute.

Was your typing AT$T intentional? They do seem rather more expensive.
